Must-Have Blog Props To Up Your Photography Game

I’ve been going mad over blogger props recently. One of my goals this year was to improve my blog photography, so I got a new camera and I actually went out shopping for blog props (who does that?). Anyway, my budget was £20 and I managed to pick up a few pieces that I can use in my photos over and over. I may need to buy an insta-worthy storage box to keep everything in now!

I thought you guys may be interested in finding out what I look for when I go hunting for props and how to keep it cheap but chic ?.

Blog Prop 1: Home Accessories

I like to buy cutesy home accessories that can double up as a prop when need be. One of my faveee tips is to find somewhere that sells wallpaper or flooring (B&Q, Homebase etc) and ask for a sample of your favourite ones. It’s completely free and for flat lays you can use your samples as a fancy background. I doubt every single blogger has white-wash wooden floors, trust me with this tip ??.

  • candles
  • fairy lights
  • throws
  • art prints
  • cushions
  • wallpaper
  • tableware
  • trays
  • tech (phone, laptop, tablet)
  • letter light box/blackboard
  • good lookin’ food ?

…anything geometric, fur, marble, striped or with polka dots really!

Blog Prop 2: Stationary

Stationary is always a cheap prop! I love going into Tiger for some cool stationary, it’s defo one of my fave shops when I’m looking for some random finds. Tk Maxx is also good to tho!

  • notebooks
  • wrapping paper
  • paper weights
  • magnets
  • postcards
  • scissors/perspex stapler/paper clips
  • pencil case
  • books
  • magazines
  • coloured cardboard

If you’re in Kate Spade Paper Chase or Oliver Bonas you will definitely find some pretty stationary!

Blog Prop 3: Flowers

This is my absolute fave prop! It’s not always easy to buy fresh flowers every week. So I usually use faux flowers because it makes my life 100% easier.

  • peonies
  • hydrangeas
  • roses
  • tulips
  • cherry blossom branches
  • succulents
  • lavender

My favourite places to shop for faux flowers are Dunelm, eBay , The Artificial Flower Shop and of course IKEA for some succulents! ?

Blog Prop 4: Makeup & Accessories

A good tip when you’re trying to do a flat lay photo. If your products keeping rolling about and are difficult to keep in one position, try using a little bit of blue tack to hold it in place!

  • glitter
  • glasses
  • trinket dishes
  • makeup brushes
  • pretty lipsticks
  • perfume
  • jewellery (rings, bracelets, earrings, watches)
  • nail varnish
  • scarfs
  • lip balms

I hope this post helps you to improve your photos! Remember that you don’t need an extravagant budget to take good pictures. So many bloggers stress about this, but it’s totally do-able on an iPhone & with things you can find lying around the house! Get creative ✨?
