7 Perks of Having Curly Hair + Curl Company Giveaway
I want to everyone that has curls to embrace them! When I started wearing my hair natural it was difficult at first but it was honestly the best thing I ever done. Rather than fighting your natural curls, why don’t you try work with them? You’ll start to see quickly all the fun little perks of having truly unique curls. It’s time to celebrate your curls, and here are a few reasons why:
Maintenance is easy peasy
One of the great things about curly and wavy hairstyles is that they’re easy to style. Wake up, shower and go – that’s why it’s called a ‘wash and go’.
Stop wasting time
You won’t need to spend ages with straighteners or curlers when you’ve got curly hair. It takes me around an hour and a half to fully blow dry then straighten and style my hair. Really, who’s got time for that? Curls have a natural way of finding their place and looking cool without doing very much at all.
Ready-made style
People spend a lot of time and money trying to achieve the bouncy look you get from curly and wavy hairstyles. As your hair has already got a natural curl you don’t need to do a lot, but it’ll look like you have! Your locks have a mind of their own too, so you’ll be rocking different styles from day to day.
Versatile
When you’ve got curly hair there are so many ways you can style it. Throw it up in an on-trend messy bun, tie it in a ponytail or go for braids, they all look beautiful with a wave in them too. Curls also lend themselves well to standout accessories like headbands, brooches and wraps.
Good in all weather
Curly hair is more robust and can stand up to harsh weather very well. Whether you’ve been blown around by the wind or drenched by the rain your curls will handle it well and be easy to re-style if need be.
Less damage
As you don’t need to manipulate your hair so much there’s going to be less damage. Exposing it to less heat from curling irons, straighteners and hairdryers, and using a limited amount of styling products and treatments, will stop it getting frazzled.
Volume & Texture
Something you can guarantee from naturally curly hair is volume (afro combs at the ready). All those curls create height, with the added bonus of you not having to do anything. The same goes for texture too. No need to worry about how you’re going to plump up limp locks, as yours will always be lively.

I would love to gift these to my sister in law who has curly hair: thank you. My favourite hair tip is when showering and I have conditioner on my hair after shampooing, before I wash it off I always wrap it in a hair towel wrap for the warmth whilst showering.
Use a little leave in conditioner on dry curls to give them a refresh
I have naturally wavy hair but I usually straighten it, I should give Curling it a try!!
Use a hair mask as regularly as you do a face mask
My favourite hair tip is to use hair protection spray to avoid bad split ends and blow dry your hair with your hair thrown forward to get more volume

I have curly hair which tends to go a bit frizzy when over dried, it always sits better when I leave it a little damp to dry naturally
dont use too much heat
use lots of moisturising conditioner
Sleep on a silk pillow – your hair can be damaged while you sleep due to it being roughed up and tangled. A silk pillow will help give a more slippery surface for the hair to avoid excess friction, resulting in less repeat styling and brushing.
For cheap serum for curly hair a dot of Vaseline rubbed into your hair works really well 🙂
Leave hair to dry naturally whenever possible, as hair drying products / equipment can be damaging to hair and / or scalp. This damage can occur over time, healthy hair and scalp are valuable, precious attribute :- Take Care and enjoy for a lifetime if possible.
Use plenty of conditioner
My Mam tought me to sleep with a pair of pants on my head to keep the curls in. It works! Sadly I twist and turn too much for them to stay on. It’s made many a man chuckle over the years but as long as my curls looked good I never cared!
I can’t stress how important it is to use a proper heat protector on your hair before applying ANY kind of heat (blow drying, straightening, curling, etc). Heat protection sprays add moisture to your hair and prevent the natural moisture from evaporating. It also forms a protective barrier over the cuticle on the hair strand, preventing heat damage and enabling your hair to keep its high shine. You’d be amazed at just how much damage heat can do to your hair. It takes a real beating.
If like me you have your hair in braids (it’s similar to yours naturally) don’t think you can just leave it for the next few weeks. You still have to keep them clean and hydrated. Tea trea oil mixed with water is a good way to remove any grease inbetween washes and rebraids. Use a braid spray to keep them moisturised and your own hair in great condition underneath. Also don’t make the mistake I did and try to wash your hair before brushing it out after removing braids….it won’t end well.
Shampoo and condition with Coconut Water.
My best tip (that worked for me) is to full commit to curly hair and stop dyeing and straightening it so it can grow strong and long. I have medium/fine hair so it has been the only way to reduce breakage x
Condition. Your hair regularly and drink lots of water it keeps your hair healthy and shiny
using a serum on the ends to keep the ends of the curls neat and more defined
make sure you use the correct products
Use hair masks regularly to help keep the ‘oomph’ oh and heat protectors are a must!
Use as little heat as possible ,let your hair dry au natural
I have wavy red hair sometimes I straighten it but like it curly too. I always use a good condition as it tends to frizz too.
I just wash and go – Let your hair be natural
My hair tip is to use lots of conditioner when you wash it to make it look lovely
My favourite hair tip is to donate your hair to a cancer charity or wig-making school each time you get it cut after growing it. You can sell it if you don’t wish to donate it.
I can’t believe I left my long, thick hair on the hairdresser’s floor so often when there are people who need it. T
Aww what a great idea! I’m glad you posted this tip I would have never thought of doing this. Defo doing it from now on! Kumba xx
Always use a heat protector spray before straightening or curling your hair.
always use products with nutritive oils xx
My best hair tip is apply frizz ease to your hair when in the shower as it takes to your hair more as the hair follicles will open due to heat. This would be Amazing to win for my little girl, she has tight curls and this would be fab for her it gets out of control sometimes. Thanks for the chance.
always use the right products
dont continually colour your hair without nourishing it too.
Use a mask once a week!
I have a extremely curly hair naturally and have found that the best way to comb out my hair after washing, is to section it into sections, start at the bottom and work upwards and in this way you don’t end up with a great big knotty clump at the end!
My favourite hair tip is always use a very good quality shampoo and conditioner.
always use a comb when ur hair is damp with lots of conditioner to separate curls
Have it cut often
Always use a good quality hairbrush and don’t over dry your hair
I was told always massage my scalp never the ends it actually makes a difference
Be happy with the hair you have been given if you have curly hair don’t straighten it and vice versa. Embrace your natural beauty for glowing, beautiful locks.
The best hair product that I’ve discovered is leave-in conditioner – the only thing that stops my hair from going frizzy.
Use a heat protector before styling with heat such as straighteners/hairdryer to protect the hair from damage
I have very straight hair but my two teen daughters have real tight curly hair and hate it any tips on keeping it shiny and nice would be very much appreciated
I try not to use heat on my hair, it dries out the curls and makes it frizzy
Putting a bit of mousse in wet hair keeps it fresher for longer
