Protein World | 30 Day Challenge

I was contacted by UNiDAYS to get involved with the Protein World New Year Revolution campaign as they are currently offering 20% off all Protein World products which is amazzzing – click here to get the deal (it’s limited time only).

They couldn’t have got in touch with me at a better time as it was just after the New Year and one of my resolutions was to get fit in 2017 (stereotypical, I know). I always set my health & fitness goals at the start of the year but I never actually get round to doing anything. A friend of mine is really into fitness and they buy their protein powder through sites like Luxe Fitness and is very consistent when it comes to fitness. This is the sort of mindset I want to carry throughout the year! I want to reach my fitness goals as best I can do, I don’t want to slip back into any old habits, so taking on whatever help I can get I’m going to be happy about that! I have been looking into getting a fitness tracker like a FitBit to keep track of what I am doing whilst setting personal goals for myself and my own peace of mind. I told my friend about this and she directed me to Mobile Mob who has all sorts of accessories I can get for it as well.

But this year I’ve taken on the Protein World 30 Day Challenge in the hope that I will change my ways and actually put my health first for once.

My goal is to tone up, eat better and get into a good routine of exercising frequently. I absolutely hate going to the gym, I hadn’t been in over 5 years. So my sister who is a dancer took me out a few times for a ‘gym lesson’. I am absolutely clueless on which equipment to use and what not – so she explained everything to me and told me easy exercises that I can try. Someone even commented asking if she was a personal trainer! However, I did end up with an aching body the next day… so I need to remember to take it slow.

Before I began the challenge I started practising all the exercises my sis told me at home (the gym still gives me the fear). Protein World also sent me a neat little workout booklet which you receive with ‘The Slender Blend‘. Having a strict plan to follow day by day is perfect for people like me who don’t have a clue what they’re doing and it is actually really easy to follow.

By following their plan from day one to three I worked mostly on my lower body and abs. Then day four to six I worked on upper body, lower body and then I had a well-deserved rest on day seven. Any exercises I found awkward or too difficult I just skipped by and focused on the ones I felt comfortable with. My aim isn’t really to lose weight but more to tone up. Therefore, the cardio exercises didn’t seem that useful for me so I focused more on the weight lifting exercises. I feel that using the weights, along with the protein shakes has really made all the difference.

Now more on the protein shakes. They actually taste really yummy! I was SO surprised I just assumed it was going to taste disgusting but I mixed it with Alpro’s Oat Original and it worked really well. I actually look forward to having my little protein shake after work. I know there is a lot of debate surrounding when the best time to drink a protein shake is and I wasn’t sure whether to drink my protein shake before or after workout, but after further investigation it appears it doesn’t matter too much. So that’s a round up of my first week so far.. I will keep you updated on the weeks to follow. I can’t wait to see my results after the 30 days.

I think it’s awesome that it’s a full package, it’s easier to get used to a routine when it’s included in pretty much everything that you intake. I’m sure you’re going to do awesome. 30 days are just going to fly by.

You can do it! It’s nice that more and more people are getting into fitness. Nothing is more important that our health. The gym can be pretty intimidating especially if it’s your first time. It’s easy to get used to it if you’re following a routine though.

This year, I decided to run a monthly race – last month, I started with an 8K, and I have a few 10s lined up until May. For me, my goal is make sure I’m getting the right nutrients, which can be pretty tricky when hardcore powders taste so bizarre haha!

Toning up is definitely something I want to try and do. Porridge with hemp seeds is my favourite ways to start the day to keep myself going until lunch without that sugar craving mid-morning.
