24 Hours In London At Christmas!

Hello loves! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Sorry, it’s been so long since my last post. I have been travelling around like a headless chicken and so unprepared for everything. To be honest I was a little drained of energy because I made a crazy decision to say yes to every opportunity over the festive period. It soon became known saying yes to everything was way too overwhelming for little old me, so I had to take a few days away from everything to recharge. But don’t worry, I’ve picked myself back up now and I learned a valuable lesson in the process – choose your opportunities wisely.

Anyway, with that being said I did have lots of fun in London! My sister and I went down South on the Caledonian Sleeper train – you’ll see my awkward, bare naked face explaining how that works in the video above (don’t forget to subscribe to my new youtube channel). I’ve always wanted to try out the Caledonian sleeper so when I was offered a complimentary ticket I was like heeeelllll to the yeaaaaa! My sis and I had separate cabins but the rooms did have a little sliding wall so we could see each other if we wanted to. It had all your necessities; a pullout bed, a sink, temperature/light controls and complimentary toiletries. Nothing fancy but it does the job and you don’t end up with a sore neck from falling asleep sitting upfront then waking up to awkward glances across the train – especially if you dribble or snore in your sleep!! Not saying that I do…

Anyway, we got on the train in Glasgow at 11.40pm and arrived in London at around 6.30am so we had a whole day to plan for as our hotel check-in wasn’t until 3 pm!

Theatre Lottery

With my sister working in musical theatre, she wanted to see a show (obviously). I was so broke because it was right before Christmas, so as we were awake so early we looked up early bird offers and it turns out there is such a thing as the theatre lottery which is free to enter for early birds. So we put our names into the draw and I bloody won – I never win anything!! So we got two FRONT ROW tickets for only £20 each (RRP £120+ each) to see The Book of Mormons which is normally sold out! We were so excited to be seated in the front row and one of my sister’s friends was performing in the show which made it even more special.

After the show we grabbed some food and started heading to our hotel – the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel to drop off our bags and then head back out.

Afternoon Tea at The Royal Lancaster

We then did a little bit of Christmas shopping and had a walk around some vintage shops around London’s city center because c’mon the vintage scene is Glasgow is pretty limited so I had to see what London had to offer.

Our next stop was The Royal Lancaster for some festive afternoon tea. The interior of this place was insane. A fireplace in every corner and a Christmas tree as tall as the empire state building (just a slight exaggeration). I actually couldn’t stop taking pictures it was soooo beautiful and apparently, Louise from Made In Chelsea stays there quite often which was cool!

The afternoon tea was lovely, I have never had afternoon tea before so I don’t have much to compare it to. It did have a good selection of sandwiches, fresh scones and sweets. The list of teas that were available to choose from was plentiful, the majority of them I had never heard off. I hate being rushed into decisions so I just picked one that sounded the fanciest I think it was called ‘the Darjeeling tea’ but it tasted just as good as it sounded.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland was my faveeee stop! I’d never been there before so I had high expectations. I love how it was free entry I expected to pay a fee to get in but I was surprised that it was actually free – WINNING.

Anyway, you’ll see from my vid that’s clearly when the drinking began and the snapchat filters came out! There was a massive tent I think it was called the The Bavarian Village that we ended up staying in for hours. The atmosphere was phenomenal with a live band and a crazy mixture of people from all over the world. I forgot that I was still in Britain.

After we had some German food and drink and danced for a while we went to another tent called THORS and it was a really cool place. It had open fires and a more calm, chilled atmosphere with people sipping baileys hot chocolate and dogs sleeping by the fire. I would come back here time and time again, I actually loved it so much. I’ve already told me, fiancé, that he is coming with me next year! If you are going in Jan I would recommend that you find the THORS tent! It is such a great spot to sit and relax.

Cocktails At Dirty Bones

Last stop was for us to meet up with some old friend for cocktails in Dirty Bones in Soho. Me being the amateur vlogger that I am, the bartender was looking at me like what the hell you doing when I brought out my tripod in a pretty quiet restaurant. When I said to him I was making a youtube video he was not afraid to get in front of the camera with all his tricks you see him at the end of the vid!

I hope you enjoyed this little post, and please let me know what you think of my vlog! It’s my first time getting into the world of vlogging so I’d love to hear all your comments good or bad!
